• Why should I register?
Guests are free to browse members' profiles, but in order to make contact with other members such as messaging and chat, you must be registered with a valid email address first. Registering and updating your profile gives you a great chance of being a featured member, which will definitely make you very popular! Moreover, having your profile in our system will allow others to know more about you and makes contacting you much easier and quicker! Register now!

• I've never tried online dating before. How do I get started?         
Don't worry, StepsApart makes meeting people online easy for you. Start by signing up, and posting a profile. Everyone is unique and lovable in their own way, so do fill up your profile information as close to your real person as possible. People will approach or respond to you for who you really are! Next, be sure to upload a good photo of yourself. It's a proven fact that profiles with photos receive a lot more responses!

• How do I find people that I might interested in?
You can browse profiles on StepsApart by Women Online or Men Online. Alternatively, you can do a filtered search.

Using the quick search allows you to search by a few criteria, such as whether you're seeking a man/woman, age range, and whether results should contain pictures. This is usually the best search to run as it is the easiest to use.

The advanced search allows you to get extremely specific. Other than the criteria listed in quick search, you can also filter results based on status, country, city, smoking and drinking habits, living situation and more!

• How do I edit my profile photo?
If you can't see your face well in your profile photo, you can easily edit it to make it focus on your pretty face. Log in to stepsapart.com and go to your profile. Place the cursor over your profile photo and the 'Change Photo' button will show up. Click it to open the panel and chose 'Edit photo'. Then you can see your photo in full size with a highlighted box over it. Drag and shift the box to define the area you would like to crop. Don't forget to save it!

• How do I manage my photos?
It will attract more people if you share more photos that feature you in different situations. To manage your photos, log in to your profile, click 'Photos' in the top navigation bar. Your photos (that have been approved) will show up in the page. You can easily edit a photo using the simple editing function to crop, delete, or set as your profile photo.  To set privacy for your photos,  use the check box under each photo to select relevant ones, and then choose the group you want to share photos with in the dropdown menu 'who can see selected photos'.  Make sure you save your changes!

• What to do if I don't want to receive emails from stepsapart.com?
Log in and click on 'Settings' in the top navigation bar.  Then you can change your email settings in the "Notifications" tab. If you don't want to receive any notification emails then change all the settings to 'No'.

• What to do if a person annoys me?
If you feel that someone offended you or did something annoying, block the user right away! Or simply report abuse . You can find the corresponding links on the top right corner of that user's profile.

• What is "Favorite" list? How does it work?
You can create a list of your favorite people, which lets you easily keep track of all their information, photos and contact details.

• What are fans?
Users in your fan list are people who are really interested in you and added you on their favorites list.  If you find someone attractive in your fan list, don't hesitate in sending him or her a message right away or you could miss your big chance.

• My picture did not get approved, why not?
Please take a look at our Photo Guidelines and make sure you follow them.

• What should I do if  I forgot my username and/or password?
Simply follow the "forget username/password" link and provide us with your email address. We will forward you both your username and password via email. You must use the same email address that you used to join. Click here to retrieve your password.

• How do I set my privacy?
You can view and edit your privacy settings from the Privacy page. Click on 'Setting' in the top navigation bar, and select the 'Privacy' tab. From here, you have control over who can view your content and who can search for you on Stepsapart by utilizing the dropdown options. The content you have control over viewership are your photos, your friends list, and your profile. You can share your photos, personal information and friends list with everyone on Stepsapart; only your friends; or have it hidden from everyone.

• Can I hide my profile from everyone?
Yes. You can control your profile to be viewable by everyone; only your friends; or completely hidden. This can be changed in your privacy settings from the Privacy page.
- Everyone: This is your default privacy setting. Your profile will be viewable by anyone and everyone.
- Friends: You will appear in search results, but your profile will only be viewable by your friends.
- Stealth mode:  Your entire profile will be hidden from everyone, and will not appear in our search results. However, if you initiate messaging or send friend requests to other users, they will be able to view your profile and contact you too.

• Why become a full member?
Full members will experience  a convenient way of communicating and sharing information with other members.  While you are enjoying your privileges as a full member, you are sharing these benefits with the people you are interested in at the same time, which means it will be easy for you and your future date to communicate and share information between the two of you!
